MUMBAI: A six-year-old boy drowned after falling into a 7-foot deep water tank at an under-construction building in Andheri (W) on Sunday.
The Amboli police registered a case of negligence against an on-duty watchman and the driver of a tanker, who allegedly left the lid of the tank open. The child, Roshan Sonar, was playing at the site on J P Road when the accident reportedly occurred.
Roshan was the son of a security guard, Prakash Sonar (36), who stayed on the same premises with his family. Around 1 pm, workers at the site saw Roshan’s body floating in the tank. He was rushed to Cooper Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. “Both the driver and the watchman forgot to put the lid back on. Besides, there was no parapet surrounding the tank,” an official said. The two accused are on the run.
